We decided to press this classic Dian Hong because it really comes into its own in this form. Over time, the cake only gets more interesting: the flavour becomes more rounded, with even greater sweetness and depth.
This is the sort of black tea you’ll want to drink every day. No unnecessary astringency, no bitterness — just a rich, full-bodied flavour with notes of honey, cocoa, dried fruit and fresh baked goods.
I really love that this tea is equally good in the morning, when you need a gentle wake-up, and in the evening, when you just want to pause, pour yourself a few cups and take your time.
The compressed form makes it easy to store and gradually changes the character of the tea. In a year, two or three, it will become even smoother and richer.
